AlekSIS® 2022.6 “Cohn” released

The AlekSIS® team published the new version 2022.6 of the AlekSIS® standard distribution perfectly in time as a preparation for the beginning of the new school year in most German states. This way, schools can start the year using the version with the codename “Cohn”. The new release has been developed from January to June by the developer team and our partner schools.

During this development phase, the main focus lay on improving the digital class register according to the needs of another high school and on several integrations.

Highlights in AlekSIS® 2022.6 “Cohn”

Specially interesting are the following changes.

New Translation: Ukrainian

New Translation: Ukrainian

The whole standard distribution including all official apps is now nearly completely translated into Ukrainian. Thanks to a contribution from the translator Sergiy Gorichenko of Fre(i)e Software GmbH, it’s easier for students from Ukraine to use AlekSIS®.

New App: Seating Plans

New App: Seating Plans

A new app in the standard distribution now allows to manage seating plans. Those can be created for learning groups, rooms or even subjects, e. g. if different teachers have different seating plans in the same room. In addition to that, plans can be also created by class teachers or special assignees and are then available to all other teachers.

The class register contains an integration to directly show seating plans with the lesson documentation.

New Integration: Matrix/Element

New Integration: Matrix/Element

Element (based on Matrix) is a great solution for building a schoolwide, secure messenger system. With Matrix, you can not only organize chat rooms and spaces for classes, courses, and grades, but also do many other things not listed here. It can be used on desktop computers and is available as smartphone app.

AlekSIS® now has an integration with Matrix and Element which makes it easy to display the school structure in chat and video rooms which are kept up-to-date by the integrated synchronization.

New Integration: Matrix/Element

Additionally, the following improvements and changes have been implemented:

  • Teachers in parent groups can edit class register entries in course groups
  • Affected students and teachers can be informed about substitutions, cancellations, and other changes by e-mail or text messages.
  • The Untis integration now supports exams.
